ABSTRACT Stress is universal human experience. Stress and strain are experienced bv adolesceiTts, especially students, Tlie study is an attempt to find out the academic stress and anxiet}' among the students in twin cities of Andhra Pradesh. The total sample for the present study was 743 (male=373 and female=370). The Student Academic Stress Scale (1991) developed by Rajendran. R and K.V. Kaliappan and State-Trait Anxiety Scale developed by Charles D. Spielberger (1996) were used to gather the data. A demographic questionnaire developed by the researcher was also used. A quantitative survey method was employed using statistical procedures such as t-test and f-test. Tlie findings ol the study points out that there v\'ere significant influence and difference betv^'een the biographical variables like age, gender, place of living, type of school, medium, t}'pe of syllabus, permanent place of residence, working members in the family, tuitions and income with Academic Stress and State-Trait Anxiety. Based on the findings of tlie study a set of recommendations were formulated.
