Publisher's Synopsis

This is a small book about grief. When the bereaved are asked how they are, they often reply "I'm Fine", they are not, this is their public face, it is sometimes easier to say this than to tell the questioner how they really feel. It is not a textbook, but reflections, ideas and how grief impacts families. Anne Bone the Author has worked with families experiencing grief for over 35 years. The book focuses on the effects of grief on children and young people, and how parents, carers, schools and supporters can help them navigate their grief journey.
Part two of the book discusses how major incidents impact those caught up in such an event. The Author recalls the experiences of the Piper Alpha the largest disaster in to have affected the oil industry when in 1988, 167 men lost their lives in the North Sea.
"I'm Fine" considers the different circumstances of death, from sudden death to anticipated death, and the issues around managing the grief that follows. Grief is painful, scary and at times overwhelming and is unique to each person. There are no "rules" to grieving but finding the pathway to managing your own grief can help. This small book may assist this journey, and when death visits a family, then understand how it may impact and how to navigate some of the issues.
