Illinois roundwood production rose to million cubic feet in 1983 from million cubic feet in 1961.

Fuelwood accounted for three-fourths (78 percent) of the roundwood harvest compared to one-eighth of the harvest in 1961.

White oak, red oak, and soft maple, the leading spe' cies cut, furnished 62 percent of the total harvest.

Most (96 percent) of the roundwood cut came from private land.

Saw log production climbed from 131 million board feet in 1961 to 161 million board feet in 1983.
