Publisher's Synopsis
This volume is dedicated "To the memory of my ancestor, Mary Allerton Cushman, last of the Mayflower Pilgrims," and a number of the poems have been inspired by Pilgrim happenings. A few find their incentive in war-time experiences. But most of the poems breathe the atmosphere of life in New England, in open fields or crowded streets of the country or the city.
