Results of studies undertaken in selected commercial peach packinghouses indicated that labor and equipment costs for handling peaches can be reduced by almost 13 percent by shifting from the present field box system to the use of pallet boxes. This reduction amounts to approximately per bushel of fruit handled, or about ori an annual volume of bushels of peaches.
