Publisher's Synopsis

Ninety-three-year-old Will Morgan remembers December 21, 1944, like it was yesterday. Now a widower and alone with his torment, how can he tell it? If not for a chance meeting with a younger man named Jack Owens, Will's haunting account would surely die with him. Not every soldier fought through Battle of the Bulge or lived to tell the tale-one that Will has sworn to secrecy. What happened on that ridge was one thing, but what Will sees as his own personal failure is another. Can he finally reveal the one heartache he never shared with anyone, one he has carried for so long?

On the Winter Solstice of 2018, an aged, ninety-three year old man, Wilbur, "Will" Morgan, meets by chance a much younger man, Jack Owens, while deep in thought of a memory that haunts him, and has for seventy four years.

Will is alone in the world, a widower, with no living children or siblings, and only distant family that he has lost contact with. Jack is alone as well, with no family, and his girlfriend will be gone for the Christmas Holidays visiting her family.

Their initial meeting is brief, but Jack is invited by the older man to return and talk some more. Jack returns the next day, and for the next three days listens to Will's story.

They are joined on the second day by Will's primary care giver at the facility, nurse Bea Nelson, and the two of them hear out Will's story of his participation in the first five days of the Ardennes Offensive, better known as The Battle of the Bulge, during World War II.

Will takes them through his story till the Winter Solstice, December 21st, 1944, but can he finally reveal the one memory that he has never shared with anyone before, that has weighed on his mind and soul for so long?
