Publisher's Synopsis
The Greek Biographical Archive contains ca. 120,000 biographical articles on ca. 90,000 individuals. The period covered stretches from the 4th century A.D. to the present. More than a thousand years of Byzantine imperial history, a further three and a half centuries of Ottoman rule (Turkokratia), the period of national revival (1821-1832) and the entire 19th and 20th centuries are covered. Geographically, it covers Greece, Asia Minor, the Aegean islands and lower Italy for the Byzantine period and the area of modern Greece for the period after that. Around 90 source works in 148 volumes have been used for the Archive.
