Publisher's Synopsis
The travels of Edward Dodwell and Simone Pomardi. Together they visited all of mainland Greece south of the Vale of Tempe and produced a stunning collection of 1000 drawings - watercolours, sepias, pen-and-inks, and quick sketches of landscapes and Greek antiquities. Close to 850 of these magnificent drawings now survive in a private collection. Seventy of these beautiful pictures have been selected for this new publication and are presented in a catalogue, which also features gatefolds reproducing two of the panoramic landscapes. Carefully identified, each view is accompanied by a quotation from Dodwell's original text.
