Publisher's Synopsis
This is one of a series of titles which reproduce classic patterns by outstanding artists. Each volume contains 16 pieces of wrapping paper bound into the book and perforated for easy removal. There is also an illustrated introduction. The French Provincial designs in this book are from the French textile industry, centred in Alsace, at the turn of the 19th century. Called "bonnes herbes" (literally, "good grasses"), the gaily coloured, fresh floral patterns helped to establish the worldwide pre-eminence of French fabrics.
