Publisher's Synopsis
Rachel Marcatto, 33 and single, is an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan. Her previous experience as a New York City cop, and as a private investigator, has armed her with the street smarts she needs to gingerly dance with the letter of the law while she hunts down her father's killer. A killer, whom she is convinced, is a member of the Roselli crime family of Brooklyn, N.Y. Her current investigation at the District Attorney's office finally gives her the access and opportunity she needs to put away key members of the Roselli organization as she avenges her father's death. She attacks the case with fury. After twenty long months of investigations, wiretaps, and stake-outs, it's now less than one week before the warrants are issued, and arrests are made; the culmination of a massive sting operation between the FBI and several police precincts has come to an end. Then she finds a note in a sealed but unmarked envelope on her desk suspiciously summoning her to a clandestine meeting at The Veteran's Memorial Park near the South Street Seaport. Rachel brings the envelope and its contents, to the only person she knows she can trust. She goes to her life-long friend, Dr. Lillian Barry, head of the N.Y.C. police department crime lab, to help her uncover the author's identity. However, doing so puts both their lives in grave danger. Though faced with a myriad of life threatening situations, Rachel and Lil continue to battle against the Roselli crime family to avenge her father's death and disband the family. But, has she gone after the wrong family? -Other things may change us, but it all begins and ends in the family.-
