Publisher's Synopsis
This book is intended for use by those individuals and groups who wish to carry out a skilled nursing facility Christian ministry serving the elderly and disabled and their caregivers, and one which is firmly rooted and grounded in Scripture. Clergy and laymen, new Christians, and those more experienced, can all benefit from this book. There are several reasons for writing this book. First, to help those who are seeking to start a ministry with the elderly and disabled, but don't know where to begin. For the beginner, the book offers some tried and true suggestions for taking those first steps. Second, to encourage those already involved with the elderly and disabled, providing insight as to how they could strengthen their ministry by enriching their understanding of the needs of these two groups along with their caregivers, including involving others in the ministry while building deep relationships in the process. Third, this book is written to challenge those who have forgotten or are not aware of the needs of the elderly and disabled as well as both skilled caregivers and unskilled family caregivers to deepen their understanding and get involved. According to Tom McCormick (2015), such an initiative is a biblical mandate to which we all should respond with changed attitudes and actions.
