The publication of the protocols of the central committee of the SED between 1961 and 1970, allows researchers to gain a unique insight into the inner power structures of the SED state during the 1960s. This was a decade that saw the Berlin Wall built, the adoption of the GDR's constitution in 1968, the suppression of the Prague Spring and the downfall of Walter Ulbricht through Erich Honecker.
