Publisher's Synopsis
"Cara Cookie Volunteers" tells the story of Cara Becker's first time volunteering with her family at a retirement home the day after Thanksgiving. The story highlights a young child's feelings of excitement and concerns prior to volunteering for the first time. Initially Cara feels nervous, but when she arrives at the retirement home she is thrilled to spend time with the residents and create a fun environment along with her family and her puppies, too! This story is an entertaining and educational way to introduce preschool to elementary aged children to volunteering. "Cara Cookie Volunteers" is told in an entertaining rhyme with colorful and charming illustrations that keep children engaged. This story was created by the Karma for Cara Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to engage kids and teens in volunteerism, recognize leaders in service and support the care and comfort of cancer patients and their families. We hope that this book can be a starting point in creating a generation of lifelong volunteers. All proceeds directly benefit Karma for Cara.
