Author, screenwriter, and tech-writer Bill Hoffman has a Master of Professional Writing degree from USC. While working in film and television, he sold/optioned several scripts and was a producer. He's also held minor elected office. More importantly, he's been a certified PADI diver since 1977 and, in two oceans, has quite accidentally found himself close and personal among orcas in the wild.
