Publisher's Synopsis
A premature birth is a birth that takes place more than three weeks before the baby's estimated due date. In other words, a premature birth is one that one that occurs before the start of the 37th week of pregnancy.
Premature babies, especially those born very early, often have complicated medical problems. Typically, complications of prematurity vary. But the earlier your baby is born, the higher the risk of complications.
Donovan was so premature that even his skin could not handle being touched, so for only one moment I was allowed to reach into the incubator and touch the tip of his (big) top. While I was still in the hospital, I spent as much time at his bedside as possible. I cannot even tell you how many times I was told that for every good day he had, there were going to be a bad one so I should really be prepared for it.
