Publisher's Synopsis

BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) - founded to strengthen South-South cooperation, have been deeply analyzed from different economic angles. The group is dealt as one of the most influential economic groups of the postwestern world. Despite tourism being an economic force that bears very high potential, especially in those countries, strategies for the utilisation of tourism for the development of economic, social and cultural relations between BRICS countries have hardly been on the agenda at all. That's why this study aims to make a significant contribution to the existing economic literature by critically analyzing the development, role and importance of tourism in India, as one of the founders of BRICS, and its touristic role in the group. Furthermore, hindering factors and possible intra-regional tourism development opportunities will be discussed. Finally, feasible strategies for using tourism between BRICS countries to further support South-South cooperation will be presented as well.
