PAGE 12 - Ten feet north of the stairs last step,Oak tree had her roots
laid out asking me to stop here for a
second. Look at my
branches, look at my leaves, pause
here for few seconds,
may be few seconds more; take some
of my barks with
you. Get a small table basket and
have them there for few,
it might make you drowsy, that
distinct smell.
"Simon", Jennifer calling me..."do you
know how old is that
Oak tree...?"
"I don't know Jennifer..."
"It's about three hundred years old or
so..."
"How do you know" I said.
"Look at the trunk and the roots"
She paused for a second and said, "
there some sort of
Mathematical theory behind this, I
don't remember the
Whole thing, it goes with the circle
theory...but, anyway, it's
more than three hundred years old."
I can see which way it's going. I am
thinking Candle and
Wine, had Barbara Streisand and
Orchestra in the back
ground.
Jennifer broke the ice again, "there is
a soup kitchen
nearby, would you like to tag along,
and it's just a short
walk."
I did not know what to say for a
moment, even though I had
the urge to be with her but Chris was
coming down to pick
up something from me.
I gave it a thought and said, "MY
FRIEND CHRIS IS
COMING TO PICK UP A BOX OF
PANCAKES FROM ME,
HIS WIFE IS PREGNENT, I CAN'T
LEAVE THE AREA
FOR THE NEXT THREE HOURS."
Jennifer said, "did not hear you right."
I had to get really loud, so loud that
two of the flycatcher
sitting nearby flew away. Breezy
noise, along with the flap
of wings had me absent for a while; it
got me so absent that
I could hear my neighbor playing Al
Green.
I got really loud and told her again,
"MY FRIEND CHRIS IS
COMING TO PICK UP A BOX OF
PANCAKES FROM ME,
HIS WIFE IS PREGNENT, I CAN'T
LEAVE THE AREA
FOR THE NEXT THREE HOURS."
Jennifer turned red for some reason
and said, "I am going
to go in and relax for a while then."
She disappeared inside her
apartment, again.
I did not have anything else to do till
Chris gets here, my
vision went blurry for a while looking
at the Oak tree. She
looks so pretty with her green jacket
on. My weeping mind
tried to freeze some of these
moments and as it was busy
feeding the eyes. She was her green
jacket. Courtship
between me and the Oak tree did not
last too long, I heard
somebody pulling in at the back
parking lot. Most probably
Chris. It was Chris.
He came and picked up the box and
left.
I did not want to wait outside for a
long time. My scattered
mind looked around for a door,
Jennifer's door. I thought
about it and knocked softly. It was the
beating of my heart
that got reflected out of the door.
Deep inside my mind, I
asked myself whether I was at the
right door or not cause thesecond felt
like an hour.
Jennifer smiled as she opened the
door, "I am making tea,
and would you like some."
I said, "Yes, I love some."
She got lost inside the kitchen. A
small cozy studio room
nicely left, as I walked inside I had to
pass those .......................
