From the billory of the antediluvian world, we pafa to that of the flood, where we produce profane telli monies of that wonderful cataflrophe; relate various conjectures of antient and modern writers, as to the manner in which that dreadful devaflation was brought on the earth; give fome account of the ark, whereby Noah and his family, with fuch kinds of living creatures as he took in with him, were delivered from that de llruftion and, laflly, before we difmifs the hifiory of the old world, take a tranfient view of the antediluvian {tare of mankind, of their religion, policy, arts, and Iciences, of the alterations which have been wrought in nature by the flood, of the longevity of the antedilu vians, and the caufes of it, as well as of the prodigious fertility of the firlt earth.
