Cameron McKenzie is a martial artist who learned his craft at the foot of Japanese masters, and developed a strong affinity for the Bushido Code of the ancient Samurai warrior, Now he serves as a United States Marine, the American embodiment of the Samurai spirit. Following successive tours of duty in peacetime as an automatic rifleman, pathfinder, amphibious reconnaissance Marine, and drill instructor, Cameron McKenzie is posted as an adviser to the Vietnamese Marine Brigade in order to gain valuable combat experience. There he fights alongside the Sea Tigers of 4th Battalion at Binh Gia, the Crazy Buffaloes of 2nd Battalion at Phung Du, the Junk Fleet sailors of Coastal Division 15 at Ky Ha, and finally with the US Marines at An Cuong during Operation Starlite, the first big battle of the America War in Vietnam. Each of these four desperate battles were fought with courage and tenacity against overwhelming and seemingly insurmountable odds, all at a time before America realized that it was once again at war.
