Publisher's Synopsis

There are many descriptions and definitions used to describe angelic celestial beings created by God. Meet the Almost Angels-the angelic innocent, the good, the loving girls who have been given new opportunities in their lives. They have suffered tremendous heartaches, and because someone cares, they now have a chance to show how they are truly lovable and filled with goodness and selflessness. Hawk, a retired firefighter, volunteers to join a search-and-rescue team when a young girl is lost in Glacier National Park. The team includes two very remarkable SAR canines, so he sees firsthand what tremendous value the dogs have when the girl is found-alive. He and his wife Susan are preparing Salish Ranch, their home in Montana, to take in foster children-girls who have no other place to go. Soon they adopt Abby, a dog who has flunked out of seeing-eye dog school. They hope that once she's trained for search-and-rescue, she'll become a skilled tracking dog-and a dog who can also pave the way for their foster daughters to accomplish something with their own lives. One by one, other wayward girls and dropout dogs join the family at Salish Ranch. Searching for meaning in their lives, the troubled girls are paired up with the dogs-more than pets, these are animals that may change the teens' outlooks and help them see beyond themselves. During their rescue work some called them 'angels', so their team was aptly named, Almost Angels. When the call comes to search for Andy, a young teenage boy lost in Montana's mountainous wilderness, the Almost Angels are eager to respond. With their newfound skills and relationships paired with the search-and-rescue dogs, they soon realize... ...they may be the very key to Andy's survival.
