Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from A Study of the Development of Growing Pigs: With Special Reference to the Influence of the Quantity of Protein Consumed

The results of a large number of feeding experiments carried on in this country show clearly that the development of the bodies of growing pigs can be directly in?uenced by the feeds consumed. It has been found that feeds rich in protein are more favorable to the normal development of young swine than those that are poor in pro tein, and that animals fed a narrow ration have more blood, larger vital organs, and larger, stronger bones of a higher ash content than those fed a ration the nutritive ratio of which is wide.
