Publisher's Synopsis
Two hearts. Two villains. One love. Can love really conquer all or will evil have its way?
Hotter than hell.
If trouble had another name, it would be Vonn Cruzan. The guy fears nothing and has a rebel attitude bigger than the Texas sky. But when not onstage performing with his rock band, he longs for one thing--a faithful woman to call his own. A chance meeting brings an unforeseen sweetheart into his life after he's been burned by a cheating ex-girlfriend. Fringe is everything he wants in a partner if he can only get past her castle walls. In her arms, he finds much needed healing from a reckless past.
In too deep.
The moment she sees his dazzling smile, smells his fine cologne, and gazes into those 'forget me not' eyes--she hears disaster whisper her name. Fringe isn't in the market for a relationship. It's the last thing she needs after recent recovery from a nervous breakdown. The day Mackie badgers her into attending a rock concert marks the day Fringe's life is forever changed. She can't resist the hot new rockstar's invitation for a weekend of fun. But fate quickly takes a wrong turn just as the excitement begins.
When a devious plan backfires, and two people who weren't supposed to fall in love do, danger lurks in the shadows. Cruzan must find a way to rescue Fringe. And Fringe summons her alter ego to attempt a daring escape. Will Cruzan's rockstar status finally become more than simply fame and fortune? Or does the price of fame cost more than it's worth?
He turned slowly then stared down at us, first at her then at me. "Sup." He flaunted a glassy-eyed smile. He was bare to the waist, wearing only the tattered faded jeans and Nike High Top shoes. He stood tall over me, at least six-foot or better.
This was the first time I'd seen him closeup, face-to-face.
The moment I gazed at his breathtaking smile and got lost in those 'make love to me' eyes--I heard disaster whisper my name.
I tried not to gawk at his hairless chest and long muscled arms that bore a summer tan, or those droolworthy abs.
"Fringe, this is Vonn," Mackie made a sweeping gesture toward him. She appeared totally at ease with the guys and the setting. She prodded me even closer to him.
"Cruzan," he added, looking me over with those amazing eyes. Tiny flecks of warm brown around his pupils enhanced the green irises, making them even more pronounced. We were standing just that close.
"Excuse me?" I lifted my brows.
"Vonn Cruzan," he replied. "She left out Cruzan. But most people call me Cruz."
I smiled in greeting. "Nice to meet you."
"Your name's Fringe? I saw you down front with Mack."
"She scored floor tickets, and yes, my friends call me Fringe."
"Cool." He paused with another onceover from those piercing eyes. "Did you enjoy the show?"
"I had fun."
"That's what it's all about. Can I get you a drink? It's wicked-hot back here."
"If you have bottled water, sure." Awkwardness crept over me, but I had given up liquor after the breakdown.
He raised his bottle of water. "Good choice." Then he poured what was left of it over his head.
I stifled a gasp. Water dripped off his hair and coated his magnificent torso in a glorious shimmer. He shook the wet strands of hair off his face with a toss of his head then grinned. "I'll grab a couple fresh bottles."
I had to turn away to compose myself.
Mackie chuckled. "I knew you'd like him."
"That's not quite the word I'd choose." I managed to squeak out.
