Publisher's Synopsis
Josep Llu's Mateo is one of Spain's most prominent architects today. This book brings together five of his most recent projects by order of significance: the headquarters of PGGM in Zeist (The Netherlands), Barcelona's new Film Institute, an office building on the site of the old Renault factory in Boulogne Billancourt (Paris), the remodeling of the entrance and the ground and first floors of the main branch of Banc Sabadell in Barcelona, and finally the rehabilitation of an old house in El Vilar (Girona, Spain). Each project is featured by a series of high-quality photographs, plans and explanatory texts by Josep Llu's Mateo. The book includes essays and conversations by selected contributors. The publication is divided in two different "booklets": a first one for the photographic material and construction plans, and a second one that includes the texts. This book distinguishes itself from previous publications by the same author especially by its visual content: a carefully selected group of images that compose a compelling visual essay by the photographer Adrià Goula. Josep Llu's Mateo is Professor at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zurich (ETH-Z), and director of the Barcelona Institute of Architecture since 2009. Mateo's practice is based in Barcelona, and he is currently involved in a number of local and international projects.
