Publisher's Synopsis
Since 1983, when he was 23, the graphic artist, etcher, painter, and stage designer Mark Lammert has been producing rough-linen-bound books tracking the development of his themes and his conceptual sketches. The compilation of handwritten texts from varied sources written into the same pages creates an interlocking aesthetic structure. Today he has nearly 60 of these volumes, and the narrative of each contributes to a large scale reproduction of his creative process and its logistics; the provisional, the fragmentary and then the explicit; the research, its distillation and then its transformation; the handwritten, the drawn and then the painted; the invisible made visible.
