Publisher's Synopsis
Having a pet in your life is a blessing. We share a special bond with our pets. They become part of our family and bring light and joy to a home. The bond between humans and dogs is more intense than our bond with any other species. Dogs were the first animals to be domesticated. They were selected to be our companions, to help us hunt, to guard our homes, to look after our livestock and even our children, and to do so many other useful and wonderful things that it's mind-boggling. Dogs comfort us and protect us, play with us, serve us, and simply enjoy being near us. Our dogs give us so much, yet they require almost nothing in return. They just want to be fed, given your approval, and--most of all--loved. They give us their unconditional love in return. It has been proven again and again that having a pet dog can lessen the effects of solitude, age, stress. and depression. Dogs are especially good at this. Children and pets are a natural combination. Kids can be taught valuable traits and life skills through positive interaction with the family pet and by taking responsibility for feeding, walking, training and grooming. They can learn the value of treating all living things with respect and dignity when they have the opportunity care for and love a family dog. Dogs are awesome! In your journal, you will find two pages for each entry you make. Here you can record the title or topic of each entry, what your dog taught you about this, and how you have used or can use what you learned.
