"There are over 300 individual earthen art elements in the extreme southwestern United States: southeastern California and southwestern Arizona. A considerable amount of the fragile earthen art may not be discovered, recorded, and protected in time to prevent its loss. Many of the geoglyphs located along the Colorado River are believed to be of significant spiritual importance to the Native Americans living in the area. Great care was taken to respect the sanctity of this fragile art during the photography project. The figures were treated with the same respect and dignity as any other religious sanctuary. Because of the fragility of these geoglyphs, and the potential religious and cultural significance of some, specific locations of geoglyphs will not be given in this publication. The intent here is to share the beauty of these amazing features, and open a new world to future generations whose privilege it will be to research and prese
