About the Publisher
Having bought 2000 AD (in, spookily, the year 2000), Rebellion one day found they had a publishing arm and took it on themselves to start an independent book imprint. Dedicated to high-quality science-fiction, fantasy and horror, Abaddon would create original worlds and find up-and-coming authors to tell great stories within them. The first books hit the shelves in August 2006, under the auspices of 2000 AD's graphic novels editor, Jonathan Oliver. Jon now runs Abaddon, and sister imprint Solaris, full time. In three years we've published thirty titles in six shared worlds, from the brutal and gritty stories of the Afterblight Chronicles to the swashbuckling steampunk fun of Pax Britannia, and from the sword and sorcery of Twilight of Kerberos to the blood and gore of Tomes of the Dead. We've found a score of keen and talented authors and had a blast getting their works out there to be read. In a market where independent imprints are going under or getting bought out, we're selling books and turning heads while we're at it. This isn't Harry Potter. Most of our books are violent, and they're all pretty dark. The good guys don't always win, and the bad guys don't always get their just desserts. We're not going to weigh you down with eight hundred pages of description and cosmology either our stories are slick, pacy and stylish. We want to take you back to the good old days of pulp fiction, when vampire stories weren't all about the endless torment of your lost humanity and fantasy stories didn't run for fifteen volumes.
