Frank joins him there, prepared to do battle on behalf of an old friend in trouble.Harry has been working in eastern Ukraine, part of an undercover NATO unit set up to infiltrate the Russian separatists who have set up mini republics in the Donbass region. He befriended and then betrayed a militia leader there, a man now intent on exacting revenge. Back in the UK, Harry's home department has sprung a leak, which means that his remote refuge is no longer remote enough to protect him. Worse, his partner, Erica, has been abducted in Kiev, and her fate is unknown. Frank joins Harry in what was supposed to be his safe base in Coal Harbour, a former mining and whaling town on the island. Together, they start planning how to retrieve Erica without sacrificing Harry himself. First, though, they must survive.
