Publisher's Synopsis
In the shadows of WWII, Tall Jerry and his friends begin the 1953 summer vacation looking for adventure. Young adults in the '50's were expected to work summers. Farm chores or summer jobs. Jerry and his friends were no exception. With no internet or cell phones and very few televisions in the day, they relied on their own imaginations to entertain themselves when they weren't working. They are to be high school freshman in the fall and that was exciting enough - but when the rumors began, their summer took a turn. Rumors of the long since forgotten Nazis POW's who had escaped upstate New York's Pine Camp's military brig back during the war. Still on the loose, it would seem, eight years later. As evidence and facts are gathered, stumbled into and tripped over, summer adventure shows promise. Rumor is they even get the ear of 'Ike'. The scuttlebutt was that President Eisenhower personally helped them develop a strategy. If that is true, Tall Jerry and his friends aren't talking.
