Geology is the study of the earth, the materials that make up the earths structure. A geologist will investigate the process that have shaped the earth and investigate the rocks and minerals that are all around us. This log book is perfect for the aspiring young geologist to go out and record their own findings of the earth around us., specifically looking at something that interests many of us - Rocks.
Each guided prompt is made up of four pages. The first three outline your activity and has space to record your findings in an informative creative manner so you and your child can reflect on the activity and learning experience, the final page is allocated for additional notes and observations to be made directed by you and your child, allowing for personal direction and building an autonomous approach to your child's learning. The structure of the book is ideal a learning tool for a school project, a personal project or as a home education resource perfectly.
Designed to be suitable for children of primary school age (6-11) this Journal is ideal for fostering a young child's love of nature and their natural surroundings and is produced in a manner that it can be used anywhere at any time of the year. It can be dipped into or used weekly as an activity to continually nourish a child's natural desire to explore their surroundings.
-Your journal and a pencil to take a note of everything you see and do. Extra coloured pencils may be great if you like to draw.
-Binoculars and a magnifying glass.
-A camera would be a perfect accompaniment on any of these projects.
-A small jar for any specimens you may find so you can collect, examine then return safely.
-A small bag to keep all your materials and supplies together.
-A drink of water - exploring is thirsty work.
-A snack to sit down and nibble on whilst you reflect on what you've seen and plan your next move.
-Suitable clothes - a hat if it is warm or waterproofs if it could rain.
-A cloth or tissue in case you touch something a bit yuck, even though that is one of the best parts of exploring.
-A happy cheerful exploring attitude, after all there is nothing better than being out in nature is there?
Suitable to be used with most media, pencils, pens, watercolours, pastels and perfect for creating collages and artwork ideas, however felt tip pens will bleed.
