Publisher's Synopsis
-Time is not as it used to be, it has gone mad- We have all heard that phrase, pronounced by people over 50.Some say that this is due to a certain pessimism caused by age, but most take these words very seriously, we don't need to be grandparents to remember that a few decades ago, the strip of sand on our favorite beach was wider, and the tides did not reach the line of the first houses. Violent storms, which are common today, a few years ago hardly occurred, in remote places, once a year. Droughts, extreme temperatures, floods, hurricanes... the symptoms are increasing all over the planet, something is happening and we can no longer remain indifferent.Environmental groups are accusing governments, who are accusing the multinationals, who are accusing the indifference of society, who are putting pressure on governments, who are debating with the press who are denouncing the environmentalists... the potato is too hot to be received with one's own hands. There are a number of essential questions: Can we stop - and reverse - climate change? Are we responsible for what is happening? Why is climate change happening? What should we really do?What does history teach us?This humble book aims to analyze the problem, to know the opinion of environmentalists and scientists, to demystify some concepts, and to try to discover the truth behind the international discourses and treaties, formulating new questions: Have "they" reached conclusions that no one dares to reveal to the world? Could international agreements, which seek to reduce industrial emissions by combating the greenhouse effect, be just a smokescreen? Could governments and multinationals be supporting and encouraging Greenpeace's activities, aimed at denouncing the activities of those same bodies, as a way of diverting public attention?Depending on the answers, we could conclude that Humanity is walking towards a disaster of proportions never seen since the extinction of the dinosaurs, and there is nothing that can be done to avoid it.
