Publisher's Synopsis
Flying the flag for Independence Day, July 4th is celebrated annually to commemorate the declaration of independence from Great Britain in 1776.
A day for family get-togethers, picnics, parties, and barbecues. Hot dogs, watermelon eating competitions, baseball games, and firework displays are the order of the day for lots of communities.
There is a serious side to this patriotic holiday though. The fourth of July is a day on which to celebrate tradition, freedom, and the positive aspects of life in the United States.
The American people, along with many of its politicians, show their support for the history and heritage of their country, giving thanks for their freedom and the liberty afforded them by their founding fathers.
