Publisher's Synopsis
INTRODUCTION TO THE ACCOUNTANT The following was taken from a hand written journal, found in the effects of Senora Maria-Christina Esperanza, after her death on the twelfth of November, two-thousand and fifteen, in Geneva, Switzerland. If this document is to be dedicated to anyone, it should be for my friends: those unsung heroes who mould, and guide my passage through life. As very few are chosen to dictate the course of history, mere mortals like us have been destined to suffer the convulsions, conflicts and unprecedented changes of this twentieth century. Therefore, don't judge us too harshly, for every major decision made has been enforced, or directly influenced by these. THE NUMBERS ARE EVERYTHING! 1934. A young man with a gift for figures was given the appropriate further education; courtesy of his guardian. Joining the family's 'enterprise' to control its finances, he became enthralled by the dangers and excitement this brought. Events during World War Two shattered this world; their repercussions having him join two kindred spirits in the French Foreign Legion. This trio were tested to the limits of survival in Africa and Indochina; until an unexpected defeat changed everything. Escape to Thailand brought a turnaround in life, and good fortune; running financial affairs the only way he knew how. For, beneath the company's manufacturing respectability, lay a shadowy world of large scale illicit trade, controlled by summary justice. This lethally dangerous, though extremely lucrative business made few friends, while creating a growing number of enemies. There had been many attempts on his life, but will one finally eliminate this elusive figure, known as 'The Accountant'?
