Publisher's Synopsis

Tag and Chubs, two unlikely friends, are spending their third summer at Tag's grandparents' farm high in the Appalachians. As their summer progresses, they find themselves in the middle of a mystery that involves money hijacked from the Philadelphia Mint years ago, an airplane crash, the FBI, and two brothers who will stop at nothing to protect the secret of the lost money. Following an inadvertent discovery, Tag and Chubs find themselves pitted against the two brothers. An even more formidable foe, however, is the unforgiving ruggedness of the mountains surrounding the Ram's Horn, a remote mountain bald set amid deep gorges and almost vertical rock walls. It is in one of the gorges that Tag and Chubs spot the mystery light which sends them on a quest to find the origin of the light and, in turn, ignites another quest filled with peril and danger. In pursuit of solving the mystery, each boy is called on to risk life and limb and dig deeper than either thought possible for courage as they honor their friendship, their commitment to others, and their deep love for the mountains. Can friendship win out over greed? Can courage find answers where there seem to be no answers? Travel with Tag and Chubs from the highest mountains to the bottom of the gorge, from despair to elation, from fear to determination, as they pull the puzzle pieces of the mystery together.
