Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from A Descriptive List of the Arabic Manuscripts Acquired by the Trustees of the British Museum Since 1894

The descriptions have been classified in sections according to the subjects of which the mss. Treat. Within these limits they are arranged according to the alphabetical order of the names of the works, disregarding however such prefixes as Kitab and Risdlah, prepositions, and the definite article. In the case where a ms. Contains only a commentary or supercommentary upon an original work, the name of the latter determines the place in which the description of it is to be found. Full indexes of the names of works, authors, and other persons have been appended.
