Jack Funai had weathered terrible storms, and now he wanted a hole to retire in. A nice dry predictable hole without trouble or adventure. What he gets is a giant overgrown greenhouse, superstitious village people, and perfect children. Good teachers are hard to find. Friends you can trust are even harder, but if Jack can keep from being drowned, jailed, shot, hung, and bonked on the head, his perfect students may find a way to keep him. Because they know what Jack really needs, and they like him enough to call him family. But pirates and a dark parish priest stand in their way.
