Publisher's Synopsis
The 640-911 DCICN exam covers these topics: Describe how a network works Configure, verify and troubleshoot a switch with VLANs and interswitch communications Implement an IP addressing scheme and IP Services to meet network requirements in a medium-size Enterprise branch office network Configure, verify, and troubleshoot basic router operation and routing on Cisco devices Most of these topics include material similar to those of the R&S track, except that the NX-OS are also covered since NX-OS is being referred to as the "data center OS". The NX-OS was originally derived from the MDS 9000 line of SAN switches. It is said to be more powerful because it can support symmetric multiprocessors as well as multicore CPUs. License activation, however, has to be made through chassis and feature specific license keys. To conclude, the Nexus switches provide newer line speed as well as virtualization capabilities, at the expense of higher price tags.
