Mème les plus.concrètes des sciences de la nature, les sciences de la vue, s'en tiennent. À la forme visible des ètres vivants, de leurs organes, de leurs éléments anatomiques. Elles comparent les formes les unes aux autres, elles ramènent les plus complexes aux plus simples, enfin elles étudient le fonctionnement de la vie dans ce qui en est, pour ainsi dire, le symbole visuel., S Il existe un moyen de posséder une réalité absolument au lieu de la connaitre relativement, de se placer en elle au lieu d'adopter des points de vue sur elle, d'en avoir l'intuition au lieu d'en faire l'analyse, enfin de la saisir en dehors de toute expression, traduction ou représentation symbolique, la métaphysique est cela mème. La métaphysique est donc la science qui prétend se passer de symboles.
Il y a une réalité au moins que nous saisissons tous du dedans, par intuition et non par simple analyse. C'est notre propre personne dans son écoulement àtravers le temps. C'est notre mm qui dure. Nous pouvons ne sympathiser intellectuellement avec aucune autre chose.. Mais nous sympathisons sûrement avec nous - mèmes.
