Excerpt from Statement of Facts Regarding the Alaska Boundary Question: Compiled for the Government of British Columbia

There is a map published by Mr. (losncll in connection with his Year Book of 1897, which shows the limit line passing along Ernest Sound in manner similar n the route laid down in No. I, from Cape Chacon. On that map the line is continued from where it is sup posed to meet the continent, and passes along the coast to Juneau, to, as outlined in No. 2; but does not comply with the requirements of the Treaty by remaining ten (10) laurine leagues from the ocean coast. Besides, not being in accordance with the wording of the Treaty, much of the line. Of demarcation north of latitude 56' is through an impracticable country abounding in glaciers, precipices and deep 1a1111es, entirely unsuited for an international boundary line. This portion of the line at latitude 516° should be changed to the prolongation of line No.1.
