Malgré leur intérèt, ces terres cuites sont restées inédites pendant plus de soixante ans. Ce long délai a en partie pour cause les difficultés que devait rencontrer une telle étude. Si j'y insiste, ce n'est pas pour rehausser mon mérite aux yeux du lecteur, mais pour expliquer certaines des lacunes et des insuffisances qu'il ne manquera pas de relever dans ce travail.
