Publisher's Synopsis

Vincent van Gogh painted Irises (a series made at the Saint Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France) in 1889-1890, the latter being the year in which he died.

Van Gogh labeled painting "the lightning conductor for my illness" because he felt he could keep himself from insanity by continuing in his work.
