Es hat von jeher die Aufmerksamkeit der Denker auf sich ge zogen. Es war ein Lieblingsbuch Friedrich's des Grossen, der es als einen Furstenspiegel bezeichnete. Es wird wieder holt von Schopenhauer angefuhrt; er nennt den Verfasser den genialen Ko/zekt/z (vgl. Anm. 26 auf S. Heinrich Heine bezeichnete das Buch als das Holzelied der Skepsis, wahrend Franz Delitzsch glaubte, man konnte es eher das Holzelied der Gottesfure/zt nennen.
