Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Manual of Bible History, Vol. 2: The New Testament
Encouraged by the welcome given to the Manual of Old Testament History, and by the many requests made for a companion volume on the New Testament, the author is glad to be able to respond to the wishes Of his friends, and to offer the present work which comprises, in addition to the Gospel story and the Acts Of the Apostles, valuable Appendices embracing a summary of theiepistles, the history of the Evangelists, an account of the New Testa ment Canon, Of the Jewish Sects and Orders, and Con temporary Events ih Palestine. N O pains have been spared to make the Index as inclusive as possible, and to arrange it in such an order as will prove most useful, not only to' the general reader, but especially to the student of history, by enabling him to marshal his facts most systematically. It is therefore hoped that the attempt to supply an expressed want will be found to have been successful.
