Of the stock subscriptions, were subscribed by citizens of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, and by corporations created by the State represents the subscriptions of citizens and corporations of all other States and Territories of the Union. The balance of was subscribed by the States of New Jers'ey, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Delaware, and by the city of Wilmington. Some of the States have made special appropriations to their commissioners and for the erection of State buildings for the accommodation and reception of their citizens.
