Publisher's Synopsis
A strange relic is found deep under the Antarctic ice, but before it can be analysed it is lost in a mysterious plane crash on a remote island. Anthropologist Peter Hennessy investigates the relic and its implications, while within days of the crash people on the island begin to die from an unknown illness.
Biological samples are brought from the island to Australia for analysis, and a rogue diplomat seizes his opportunity. Police are soon investigating murders. As he explores further, Hennessy discovers medieval maps that depict Antarctica in impossible detail, and the mystery deepens... A former colleague of Hennessy, Dr Nicole Palmer, is working on the seemingly unstoppable plague, and the pair soon find themselves in a race against time to prevent a deadly pandemic, and piece together how the relic is connected.
