Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Marketing and Transportation Situation, Vol. 141: April 1961

Higher prices of hogs, eggs, and soy beans were the major reasons for the increase in the farm value of the market basket. Other items which showed sharply higher farm values were apples, oranges, carrots, onions, and canned orange juice. The farm values of potatoes and several fresh vegetables were considerably lower in the first quarter this year than in the same quarter last year.
