1teeth of the law fo beaten out that they can bite us no more, fhut us Up prifoners no more, neither hur'tvthe pontefl Chriflian once freed, clothed and healed by Chrifl, and enjoying him by faith, how ghaflly, fitong and terrible foever they appear to fenfe, teafon credulity that lies hid in our nature; like the vipers' teeth under his gums, and (too too often breaks forth to our great difturbance. In all thefe feats of fpiritual a�li vity and foul vit'lories, he 13 much to be wondred at and praifed, by facred faith, fo highly was he raifed, as may appear in fome few inflances following, collet'led out of his works When the law would trouble the confcience, and rule there, and diflurb the Chriflian's fweet enjoya ment of Chrifl; thus faith he, 0 law, thou mighty Queen, and cruel regent of all mankind, what have I done, that thou hafl accufed me, terrified me, and con demoed me, which am innocent? 0 law thou haft no power over me, and therefore thou dofl accufe. And condemn me in vain, for I believe 1n the Son of God, whom the Father hath fent into the world, to redeem us miferable huners, oppreffed with the tyranny of the law. He gave his life and lbed his blood for me; there fore feeling thy terrors and threatnrngs, 0 law, I plunge my confcience tn the wounds, blood, death, refurre�lion and vi�lory of. My Saviour Chrifl. Befitles him I will fee nothing, I will hear nothing. 0 law, thou would efl climb up into the kingdom of my confcience, and there reign and reprove it, of fin, and wouldefl take from me the Joy of my heart which I have by faith tn Chrill, and drive me to difpare, thati might be without all' hope, and utterly perit. This thou doll befide-thy' office keep thy felf within thy bounds, and exercife thy power upon the fiefh, but touch not my confcience; for I am baptized and by the Gofpel I am called to the partaking of r1ghteoufnefs and everlafling life, to the.
