In the Papantla region the prominent feature is a vast number of low, round hills covered with a dense tropical growth of trees, vines, and underbrush. Around Papantla these hills are only a few hundred feet high at the most. 'the vanilla is grown on their moderately sloping sides, where it gets the drainage necessary for growth.
