Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from IL Burbero Benefico: Commedia
Carlo Goldoni, born at Venice in 1707, died at Paris in 1793. He was the reformer of the Italian comedy, which before him was little better than extempore acting. Be sides a few tragedies and smaller plays, he has written about 150 comedies. Goldoni was for the Italian stage what Moliere was for the French.
