Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Books of the Prophets in Their Historical Succession, Vol. 2: The First Isaiah to Nahum
The grounds on which we think we have eternal life in Christ's Scriptures and find them testify to Him, lie deep in their spiritual nature and their whole organic life. They are such as true criticism cannot impair; but which it may free from accretions and obscurities, helping us to reach a simpler, larger, and more consistent apprehension of God's dealings with mankind through Israel and through Jesus Christ. Such, at any rate, has been the writer's experience; and this experience is, he trusts, re?ected in the chapters here presented.
